Jarrod Cunningham Sports Academy @ Havelock North High School
The Trust has joined forces with Havelock North High School (Jarrod’s old school) to set up a sports academy. The academy inductees will learn a range of life skills that will better prepare them both on and off the sports field.
The academy was launched on February 23 at the school with special guest Sir Graham Henry.
IMS Payroll Paora Winitana & Paul Henare Basketball Academy
The Trust is a sponsor of this basketball academy, which is the brainchild of Paora Winitana. Both he and Henare played for New Zealand, the Breakers and the local HBS Hawks team. Henare is the current coach of the Hawks. The trust looks forward to seeing some of the 36 academy players go on to play for NZ and perhaps secure a professional contract.
Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union Junior Development Programme
The Trust supports the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union’s junior development programme. The Trust hopes to see the regions junior rugby players go on to be Magpies, just like Jarrod.
The junior development programme visits schools throughout the region.
